How do I build a very basic DMZ

I need to know what operating sysytem and what
software is needed to build a standard basic
DMZ. can you explain where I can get them from
and the cost and also how I hook the 3 nic cards
up to the software.Last how do I empliment and
monitor it. thank-you.
