How do I remove write protection from SanDisk usb

I have tried a couple of suggestions from various posts, even changing the write protection under my settings, formatting the drive via command prompt. Some of the posts are more than 7 years old however I tried them also.
I am running Windows 8 (which is freaken hard to navigate btw) consider myself semi computer literate so be gentle!!
