How do i solve the issue i have installing XP on a HP PC?

HI i have a HP PC currently with windows 7 installed on it. I have Windows XP on a disk and am attempting to install. I am booting from the disk and everything seems to be working ok then get a blue screen which states:

A problem has been detected with windows has has shut down to prevent damage to your computer etc etc etc
