How do I take It inventory from my desk

I recently joined a bank and was posted to a branch with just over 30 computers. Three months down the road, we are going to be renewing the computers at the branch and that means renaming them (bank policy doesn?t use DHCP), setting IP addresses, etc…I have heard that there are admin scripts that can take stock of assets in a network, and since my inventory hadn?t changed from the one I inherited from my predecessor, I have been changing the dates on the end of month report and submitting, but now they will need me to actually walk around!! This is not easy, especially that PC documentation is kept at the head office and so I have to boot every machine and get its specifics? Oh no!
