In one of my first part time postions while in college for accounting I was helping out the auditors when the Big Cheese CPA came in and asked one of the little cheese CPA’s how she was doing. When she answered ‘fine’ the B.C. got all huffy and proclaimed ‘I wasn’t inquiring as to your personal well being.’ At that instant I knew I’d never enjoy spending my life working for a jerk like that, or even being one, and hating my job day in and day out, no matter how much I earned.
I soon afterwards discovered the PC world (this was 1981) and knew I’d rather spend my days on this earth doing something I loved even if it paid less.
I’ve never regretted it even if I’ll never die rich with that attitude. How do the rest of you feel about this, and how much is the ‘Fun Factor’ worth in monetary terms to you?
