How to Break into Networking?

I recently graudated last May with my B.S. in Computer Science I even got my MCP,MCSE and CCNA Certificates. I was hoping to get some type of networking job but with the bad market the only job open to me was a Help Desk job as a Consultant. I know that my current postion I have no way of getting into Networking since I’m a consultant and doing help desk. Is there another way to get into Networking?
