How to get IE 8 remember correct password?

When I go to certain web site after I enter the first character of my username the IE brings up the whole username and some black dots in the password field. It looks like it remembers the password. However when I click on “Sign In” it returns “Incorrect username/password.”

How can I get Internet Explorer 8 to correct itself with the correct password I subsequently enter?
