How to secure MS remote desktop for cloud work under Win7?

Hi All!
I’ve gotten a job that requires working in a cloud environment using MS Remote Desktop. Does anybody have quick insights on hatches to bolt down, or things that can/haveta be safely allowed? I’ve usually simply disabled the whole thing, so I haven’t a clue on what security issues there are, or how to deal with them.
