how to set apache as default?

Hi,

I have one problem.. i installed one linux distribution.. that already have mysqld and apache.. that means that is the default mysql
and apache. but future i have one problem so i want to upgrade that to new version…. so i installed the new version of apache and mysql
to different location…after the installation i stoped the old apache and mysql, and i started the new apache and mysql using command prompt…but whenever will the system restart the new apache and mysql wilnot load automaticaly. how can we set the new apache and mysql to default..how can we troubleshoot the issue can anyone help me…
