how to upload excel file using java

hi all,
Im doing project using HTML and Servlet in Apache 5.5. In my project client wants to upload theirs details in xls mode. I want to do this in java. I didnt install apache poi. Simply im using apache 5.5. How to upload and read excel file using java. can anyone pls help me? Since one month i’m struggling to do that.
