hp cd creator plus 7200 series

The problem started when I upgraded from win98 to 2k. I replaced easy cd creator 2 with easy cd creator 4.02 which was recommeded for win2k. Everytime I click on create cd it gives me this message “There are no supported
cd-recorders available.Ensure that your cd-recorder is powered on and that all cables are properly connected. You may also need to update easy cd creator to recognize your cd-recorder, To update easy cd creator select web-checkup from the internet menu.

I have easy cd creator 4.02 and using a external hp cd writer plus series 7200, and pc is gateway. IF anyone had this problem or know how to fix this problem it would be gladly appreciated
