Hp DV1000

I’ve got a dv1000 laptop i just aquire for “salvage” it seems to be that the only thing wrong with it is the lcd diverter. Now it doesnt have a os installed to it is there a way that i can switch it to VGA mode in boot because i can hit FN+F4 but thats only when its in windows.
