HP king of the clusters?

Notwithstanding some recent bad press, total cost of ownership is one of the best measurements you can use to compare cluster hardware choices from various vendors. Of course, each vendor claims to have the best TCO numbers, but careful analysis reveals clear trends. In a whitepaper analysis sponsored by Hewlett-Packard, TechWise Research studies TCO for three different RISC-based server clusters including HP OpenVMS, IBM AIX, and Sun Solaris.

HP OpenVMS came out the winner in this white paper analysis because the other two clusters experienced more downtime.

The results may raise some questions. 😉 Have you experienced disproportional downtime with IBM AIX, and Sun Solaris cluster servers?
