HP Laptop vs. :LCD Monitor

I have a HP Pavilion ze4900; the monitor has gone dark. If I connect the traditional desktop monitor to the machine – it works fine. When I try to connect my LCD flat screen monitor – zip!

It sounds like the computer keeps restarting and them promts me to choose Safe Mode, etc.

No matter what the choice – it never goes live.

I’ve done the fnF5 and F8 thing…and I’m not a wizard….at a loss – can anyone help?
