Recently the HD crashed on this machine. I tried to get help from HP with little to no results.
I replaced the 120GB IDE with a new 250GB IDE hard disk and the recovery DVD does not work.
I created the original Recovery DVD but get the error message that these are not for this pc model.
I purchased a set of recovery CDs from HP with the same error message as the result.
I was reading some of the other posts about tattoos for the pc and recovery disks. What do I do to get these to match??
I did go to the HP webiste and download the updated BIOS file for this machine (using a different pc), but since the hard drive is not formatted, I can not run the update file for the BIOS. Am I on the right track, or going about this the wrong way?
Any help would be appreciated.
