I can’t open any attachments in Outlook!!!!

Okay, one of my office members is using Office 2003 and is unable to open any attachments she receives through outlook. When she clicks on the document it highlights, but never opens, and no hourglass icon appears. This problem did not begin until a few days ago, however no changes other than basic Widows patches have been made to the computer. Any ideas?
