I dropped my laptop

dropped my laptop on the floor. it landed on the power surge protector and broke the screen. I have hooked it up to my tv and it turns on and gets to the welcome screen then turns black but the mouse is still there. I also start it in safe mode and it loads approx 50 files then stops. Im wondering if this has something to do with the screen being broken or if something else happened to the hardware?
