I left a company

Last week and they were interested in why I would want to leave but had no question about what I had to access the network. Do you think that the company you work for should be able to ask for or erase any thing you have on a PDA OR notebook? All the oem numbers were on file but if I needed to reinstall or delete files I would write them down in ether a note book or pda. So should I have to turn it in to be cleaned out or not?
