I want to do some sideline consulting but how? I have never done this but some of my peers and project managers have started that this is some thing that I would be good at. What would be the very first things that I should do to start?
For some background I am a programmer who works mostly right now in the RPG/400 area on AS400’s. Since we are a small company I also reasearch and purchase software and manage security for our PC’s. I also manage our PC users (55) and have created and implempted several help desk projects to assist this growing area. I handle the networking of the AS400 and all the Client Access matters. I am responsible for all hardware in the IT/IS area. I am also involved with our manufacturing automation and productivity area with both the IT concerns and manufacturing process stratagy ( I worked for 15 years in our manufacturing area before moving to IT).
These are skills I would like to capitalize on.
