IE7 and Outlook not responding after bootup and XP load

Right after I boot up my computer and XP loads, the I can open up Outlook and Internet Explorer. But after a few seconds, the programs stop responding. I can CTRL-ALT-DELETE and close them using Task Manager, and after that, everything runs as normal. Does anyone know why programs stop responding right after XP loads and what I can do to fix it? Thanks!
