ignore failed read

I had a linux backup which fail during tar process because some files are changed during tar process and hence exit and the backup fails
Now i want to ignore this fail and continue with backup can you please give me the idea on how i can make it,i have had a little about ignore fail read now i dont know how it works
i need your help plse
