IM in an INtranet(proxy server)

Can anybody help?
I am in an intranet, we use a proxy server to share the internet. In the im i can only send text. THis is a very common problem when using proxy server, though all the IM has the option to configure for proxy but they tell u in advance they are not sure it will work. i USE
