import excel (office 2003)

some details:
1. i develop with visual basic 2005.
2. i am interested in working against excel databases.
3. generally i need to import from excel file to data table
without “Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel”

i need to import excel (office 2003) file to data table.

is AltovaXML can help me to achieve this.
