Importing schedules from other PM Tools

I’d like to know how to import data from other project mgmt software
packages into MS Project 2000. I’d like to import my customers project
mgmt data and send them my data, even though we’re using 2 different
types of project mgmt packages.
Can anyone point me to useful papers, tools, etc on the subject or tell me how they successfully did it please?
