I was at an auction yesterday and was loading up a whole bunch of equipment into my car. (a couple of routers, gigabit switches, a powervault)
And my counterpart made a comment to me that stuck in my mind.
We were talking about how tight off a fit it was and that this is the “Fate of an IT professional, driving sports cars”.
And it stuck in my mind because every IT (network guy) Pro that I have know has driven a sports car.
I for one drive a Black Mustang GT. My counterpart, a Mitsubishi 3000GT.
My predecessor, a BMW M3.
I also have notice that most programmers don’t drive sports cars. All of the programmers I know drive “Sensible” cars.
So now my curiousity is raised. I want to see if I am way off base and just being sterotypical. Or if there is a real pattern.
Now I understand that there are those of you out there who just got into the buis and can’t afford sports cars yet. So my question to those people are, what car do you plan on buying once you get that fat raise.
And for those of us who have been in the field for a while, Do you drive a sports car. (You don’t need to state the model or year, it does’nt matter)
I am just trying to see if there is a pattern. Oh, please don’t lie. It serves no purpose to bragg about a car that you don’t have. So please don’t tell me that you are driving a roadster, viper or ferrari and you are on the bottom rung of help desk support staff.
Thanx for taking the time….
Blah, blah, blah
