My title is ?Network/Systems Admin? I have been in I.T for 12 years, promoted through the ranks.
The majority of the I.T department has been together for over 10 years.
The IT manager was promoted to his position 5 years ago.
He also has 12 years of tenure. He was hired as an analyst at the same time I was hired.
We all have a good relationship at work and off work.
Dilemma;
For the past 5years I have been requesting info from the programs group in regards to the applications that they have design and distributed to network users.
The nature of the info that I request is as follows; who should have access, where do the files and databases reside, description and function of application, and a basic mapping of database architecture
I have always hit a wall of resistance not only from them but from the IT manager who is my boss. I have continually voiced my concern for this information in maintaining security, fault tolerance, performance monitoring, and just plane trouble shooting aid.
Am I out of line on the info I have requested?
What?s my next move if any?
