Installing Linux apps

hey guys,
The kernel and essential software is on the first Linux CD. The others contain other apps, “power tools,” etc. I run two: Mandrake 7.0 and Red Hat 7.0. I need SPECIFIC instructions on how to install these apps i) from a terminal command line, and ii) from the GUI. It should be something that will do an “install everything on the disc.”
