I have attempted this several times, and tried to find what I am missing in the man pages, the READMEs and at Google. Unfortunately I still can’t seem to get this to install right.
After downloading 8.12.3 I extracted into the /etc director with tar xzvf.
I then change to the sendmail-8.12.3/sendmail directory and run sh Build.
Then I go cd ../cf/cf directory and cp generic-linux.mc sendmail.mc. I use the default configuration here.
I then run from cf/cf: m4 /etc/mail/sendmail.mc > /etc/sendmail.cf
and I get: m4: /etc/mail/sendmail.mc: No such file or directory.
On checking /etc/ there is not a /mail directory created.
What am I missing here? I thought sh Build would create any necessary directories.
I am using Mandrake Linux 8.2, kernel 2.4.18-6mdk.
