Internet downloads and installation

It’s becoming a real pain in my company’s network the downloading and installation of messengers like AOL,MSN etc. I need to find a way to either stop them from downloading or installing that stuff on the workstations. We run NT4.0 and use ZonAlarm2.6pro firewall. Anyone’s suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
