Internet Explorer 6 and Windows XP

I am using Internet Explorer 6 and Windows XP Pro. When I click on some links in IE, the window will pop up and go away quickly. The window will not stay up. I have even tried turning popup blocker off and I still have the same problem. HELP!!!
