internet inaccesible

by jotista . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

greeting,

i am using vista ultimate on an acer(aspire 4315) laptop with 2GHz intel celeron, 1MB RAM, 120GB hard disk. my modem is D-Link manufactured DSL-520T. my internet connection type is PPPoE. subscribed speed is upload 512KB and download 1024KB.

upon inspection by ISP technician, uncovered network connectivity problem at my end. the network icon and in network and sharing center panel window shows only local connection( no internet connection presents). my question is do you think my modem/router failed to be discovered by vista?

however, the modem worked immediately upon purchase. the problem arose the following day when i power up the modem. also, i am not sure if my custom configuration of the router has had adverse effect on the modem. configuration details are as follow:

enabled and checked all types of firewall protection options. some are default.

then changed the web management access password along with port number.

any idea how to resolve this issue?

thank you in advance.
