Involving customers in the development of a flagship product

by sandip.ray . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

Is it a good idea to involve customers in the development of a flagship product ? I think it is a long debated question. Does it question the loyalty of that customer ?

There are few chip design/manufactering companies who have strong competencies in their respective domain(or business verticals). They think “twice” in giving access of their configuration mangement system to customers who like to watch the development. It may be due to the intellectual property protection policy they have taken. It is also true at the same time, those companies are ready to give access of their configuration management system while executing a software/firmware development project. Is it an attempt to become a monopoly in the market where sofwtare and hardware co-exists ?

Is it an agreed truth that corporate DNA plays crucial role in developing business with unknown ?
