Ipod Nano 16gig

hey guys, my brother in law just got an ipod nano for his bday, so he went out, downloaded the latest version of itunes and then plugged it in, the ipod installed itself, but doesnt work, i went to device manager and checked it out, and its got an error code 10 (this device cannot start)
ive uninstalled the drivers, re installed it, rebooted the PC after uninstalling the drivers, still no sign of success, anyone got any thoughts?
