Is XML in a recession too?

by flashshadow . Updated 24 years, 3 months ago

In December of 2001 I signed up for 2 Certified courses, XML and XML with JAVA.The classes were to start in February and March 2002 respectivly.
January 31 I got a call from the IBM school and they told me that 6 people dropped leavin 3 including me so the course was dropped. The second course, XML with Java only had 3 people too. $3,500 worth of courses gone.
Are companies saving money by not sending people for education or is XML on the wane and like Cobol only 15 people are left who know how to use it? Smalltalk is almost impossible to find for wireless.
I know Java, JavaScript, UML, HTML, DHTML and have started XHTML.
Which computer languages have staying power and will need more than 50 people to work at?
What happened to ColdFusion? I get very few calls for it now where 2 years ago the phone rang for it and it was a money machine.
What do you think will still make money for us 2 years from now?
