ISO Trouble

I downloaded an ISO image off the internet that was supposed to be bootable. I burned the image onto a cd-rw but I am having no luck getting my computer to boot into the program inspite of the fact that I have the boot order in the correct sequence. Will I have to buy a program that will extract the iso image and then reburn it to a cd or am I just overlooking something? Appreciate any and all help.
