Issues opening old power points with Power Point 2007

When opening Power Point presentation saved with an older version of Power Point (either 2000 or 2003) with Power Point 2007 all images are viewable but the text is garbled. I have downloaded and installed SP1 for office 2007 but that did not resolve this issue.
