Comptia purchased the rights to the Gartner group’s project management methodology/certification in March 2002 and branded it IT Project+. The study guides (Kathy Schwalbe’s Course Prep) map to the PMBOK. This IT Project+ certification is for project managers with a minimum of 1 year experience. There is not a requirement to have 4500 to 7500 documented project “flight” time experience or a 2 year ongoing education like a CPA. The certification is specifically for IT project management versus construction, etc. Although I have documentable project management experience, I am pursuing this robust certification instead of the PMP. I believe it will gain acceptance with IT professionals and business sponsors over the next few years. What are your thoughts ?
