Java install/ Symbolic link creation

I am running Fedora Core 4, I downloaded and installed java runtime enviornment. I tried to create a symbolic link. It wont work, i keep getting errors (file or directory not found).
I am trying to install JRE so i can gain access to the file manager in webmin. Any help is greatly appreciated.
