KDE or GNOME…looking for opinions

by jaolson40 . Updated 24 years, 10 months ago

All I need are informed opinions as to which desktop environment would be the better recommendation for a Linux desktop offering and why…would it be a better selection of applications, better resource management, higher stability, more frequent updates or better interoerability between running X apps? Better themes? Lower Windows-to-X learning curve? Tried-it-and-always-stuck-with-it? Anything at all?

Please bear in mind that I may need to install Linux for a number of higher management personnel who have never used anything other than Windows 95 and whose ability to troubleshoot or bypass quirks and whose tolerence for same is essentially zero. Whetever I go with will need to be as easy as possible.

Points will be granted to anyone who can give a reason why one or the other is better. Or if there are any alternatives that should or can be considered, and the link to download (source or RPM, doesn’t matter). Thanks to all who can help!
