kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount…

I am trying to install Red Hat 7 and I am a complete Linux newbie.
After installing, at the first linux boot I get the error message.
“Kernel Panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs on
03:05”
What does this mean? How can I tell linux where the rootfs is? How do I find out where my root fs is?
