Laptop freeze when booting connected

Hello all.

I was wondering if anyone had encountered a problem similar to mine and if there was something that I needed to do to resolve this problem.

My XP Pro laptop (and I don’t see why it couldn’t happen to a desktop unit as well) tends to freeze (it freezes at the login screen) while booting IF the laptop is connected to the LAN (Win 2000 servers).

If I disconnect the laptop from the LAN before booting, then everything starts up fine (other than having to reconnect the cable and click on the network drives to reestablish the connections)

As I’m sure you’ll agree, it just shouldn’t be this way.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
