Laptop mouse scroll wheel

I can’t make my Ps2 mouse wheel working with my laptop. I have synaptics tuchpad
and it works just fine, however if I want to enable mouse with scrolling wheel I run into a dead end. I am one of those few happy owner of a Quantex made laptop (out of business)and I just want to make it scroll with a mouse. Is this too much to ask for?:)
