Laptop Toshiba does no top

I have a Toshiba laptop that has not started for a while. It opens from the power button but there is no specific startup sound and the LED indicating the hard drive does not light. I tried to start it a few days ago and started at the second attempt, I tried the next day again and started but in the next few days it did not open anymore.
