Laptop will not login when off the network

Hi all,

I have a HP NW8240 laptop running XP SP2 which has developed a strange issue. When I am connected to the network I can login fine. When I take the laptop off the network I get to the login screen… Enter my credentials and the login works.. but I never get to my desktop.. It appears to hang just showing my desktop background… Any ideas appreciated.
