Life is Frustrating in IT.

Do you agree that the most frustrating thing about being in IT is that users don’t listen and do what you ask?

I had this job, sorry that’s all I can say about it, and they wanted to back-up their data on the Server. The next day they called and told me to install a tape back-up unit. Long story short…they didn’t switcht the tapes. A month later the called me complaining that the Server crashed and they wanted their money back because the last time the server was backed-up was when I showed them How to do a back-up. When I asked if they were changing the tapes, they said yes. Then I asked why was the cleaning tape in the drive and how long had it been in there. No one knew.
After a long debate I wrote a check out to them in the amount that I charged for putting the tapedrive in. It didn’t break me, but if the user would have done what I told them they would have to do, this would have never happened.
Now when I have a job like this one, I make them sign an agrement to do what is asked.

DID ANYONE READ THIS???
that the real reason for typing this. The last time I wanted to start a discussion, no one read it.
