Linking Forests; Backward Compatibility

– How difficult is it to connect separate forests? Is it something that is easily built in to Active directory or does multiple pieces need to be put together?

– How difficult is it to connect Exchange systems in separate forests? We’re talking about supporting sending email, addressbook exchanges, etc.

– If you have a Windows 2000 network, and needed to communicate with a Windows NT 4.0 network, a Netware 4/5 network and even a future Microsoft XP network, is there a technology/meta-directory services that supports this easily? And what is the difficulty level?
