Linking in Excel Workbooks

I understand that when you link workbooks in Excel, there is a path identified for the links. Is there a way to change the links path. I have linked workbooks on my local machine and then copied the workbooks over to a network drive. Upon openingthe workbooks I am asked to update the link but keep getting error messages when updating the link path. Is there a field that can be directly edited on the workbook itself?
