Linux Backup

Is it possible to perform a backup on a linux box from another linux box (over the network). I have two “acting” web/intranet servers that i would like to perform nightly backup on. one box has a dds3 tape drive so i can keep off site in case of disaster. any suggestions? or software i can use?
