Linux Firewall Monitoring

To all Linux gurus:

The company admin has left and he had designed a firewall under Linux environment and I don’t have any knowledge of managing it. Can somebody guide me on how to monitor inbound and outbound transaction between the world and our own private network.

Please also provided guided commands.
Any help is highly appreciated.
