Linux GUI problem

I’ve a 3 to 4 years Pc system running on Pentium 200 MMX TX Pro II motherboard using
SIS 5597/5598 on-board chipset display.I am having trouble on INstalling Linux redhat 7.0 GUI
when i can’t get into the Gnome nor the KDE.When i typed in startx in the text-mode the display
on the monitor totally blackout and the stop responding from my Pc.
I’ve try to choose the lowest setting during the configuration of the display setting at the
installation but still the result is the same.
Please advise and let me know whether my motherboard with this display built-in chipset would be
able to support Linux RedHat 7.0 GUI in Gnome and KDE.
